Hi guys! Welcome to my blog, I am so happy you are here! To start off my introduction blog I wanted to take the time to tell you about myself and the reason for why I decided to start a blog. My name is Adeline Larson, and I am originally from St. Paul, Minnesota. I grew up in a Christian household with a large family. I am the youngest of nine kids, four boys and five girls. Growing up in a large household I had the opportunity to watch my older siblings’ accomplishments, mistakes, and their personal maturing through life. I feel like because I was the youngest kid, I had to grow up in a quicker manner than most kids my age. Being surrounded by siblings that were getting jobs, graduating high school, and getting married, changed my view on childhood.
My Faith
My faith is the most important aspect of my life. It felt very important to include it in my blog introduction. Like I previously stated, I grew up in a Christian household and knew the Lord at a young age. My family and I attended church weekly, and I personally went to my church’s youth group on Wednesday nights. I grew up hearing my family discuss Jesus and the gospel on the regular. While I considered my faith strong, I did not realize how much I relied on my parent’s faith. When I entered high school, I started experiencing anxiety and quickly realized how much I needed the Lord’s strength to get me through it. Through this time, I started truly making my faith my own. I started reading the Word and spending time in daily prayer. I realized that resting in God’s presence offered me true peace and comfort. During my sophomore year of high school, I experienced the loss of friendships that I had previously had for years. This took a toll on my mental health and confidence within myself. This was a time in my life where I had to slow down and remind myself what I was living for. I discovered that I could not place my identity in what I look like, the people I surround myself with, and what I own, but only in Christ. After high school, I enrolled at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. This transition from high school to college took a toll on my mental and physical health. This period of my life I would say was one of the hardest I had to go through so far. I experienced homesickness, anxiety, and struggled to get adjusted to my environment. As I walked through this period of time I was in, I quickly realized that apart from God I could do nothing. I needed his strength and peace every day to renew my spirit.
My Education
I have been blessed with a different upbringing then most people my age. I was homeschooled from Pre-K-12 grade. I was able to do dual enrollment for my junior and senior year at the University of Northwestern St. Paul, Minnesota. This experience helped prepare me for the workload I now have at college. I am currently attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, studying Strategic Communications with a minor in Women’s Leadership.
My Experience
Job Experience:
My first job was a hostess for one year at the Tavern Grill in Minnesota. I then was promoted to an Expo in the kitchen for two years. I then recently progressed to a server at the restaurant. With each of these roles, I have gained experience in customer service, organization, and the ability to work under pressure.
Projects:
Like I have previously stated, I am a Strategic Communications major. Because of this, I have a handful of classes I have had to take that gave me experience in Adobe software programs such as, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Audition. Through these programs, I have created posters, case studies, brochures, Logos, conceptual ad series, and edited numerous videos. I have also gained experience in making PowerPoints through Canva as well as learning how to record and edit podcasts. You can find more of my work under the portfolio section of my website!
Where I am Currently at in Life
To finish off my introduction to my blog, I thought it would be important to explain where I am currently at in life. I am currently a sophomore at Liberty University studying Strategic Communications with a minor in Women’s Leadership. I have grown so much these past two years I have been at my college, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has given me. This year I am serving on my hall leadership as a community group leader. Each Wednesday my college has campus community which is a time where students lead us in worship, and we hear from pastors. Afterwards, I have the opportunity to lead the girls on my hall in time of reflecting over the message. This leadership opportunity has blessed me in ways I did not know was possible. The girls on my hall have quickly become my community and have helped me grow immensely in my walk with God.
